Albert Kenneth Leach, 81, of San Jon, died Friday, Jan. 2, 2004, in Amarillo.

He was born on Dec. 7, 1922, in Belleview, to John and Mary Leach.

He graduated from high school in 1940 and joined the U.S. Army, serving in World War II.

He married Dessie Lassater on July 8, 1945.

They moved to Glenrio where they ranched and operated the State Line Bar.

He retired from ranching and moved to San Jon. He raised race horses.

Family members said he loved horse racing, rodeos and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his wife; and by a step-son, Nolan Terrill.

Survivors include a step-daughter, Margaret Terrill Crenshaw of Antioch, Calif.; a daughter-in-law, Shirley Terrill of Clovis; two brothers, Ernest Leach (and wife, Veda) of Portales and Wallace Leach of Gallup; a sister, Mary Blakley of Rogers; six grandchildren, Randall Crenshaw, Latawna Rice, Kishla Henry, Inola Emerson, Gary Terrill and Lacinda Luna; and 15 great-grandchildren, Travis, Dustin, Tamber, Yatz, Skylar, Zackary, Bailee, Michael, Danielle, Ryan, Douglas, Alicia, Jordan, Bradon and Brittany.

The Rev. Roy Mitchell will officiate the services.

Burial will be at San Jon Cemetery.
