It's a new year baby

Maria Rodriguez of Muleshoe, Texas, said she wants to thank the many Clovis businesses and individuals who donated goods and gift certificates to her for the first baby of the year.

Rodriguez’s son Francisco was born at 8:16 a.m. Friday, the first baby born at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis in 2004. He weighed 7 pounds, 3 ounces at birth.

Francisco has a sister, April, 2.

Rodriguez is the daughter of Carlos and Zulema Rodriguez, of Muleshoe.

“I just want to say thank you to all the people who contributed gifts. We’ll need them,” she said.
