Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:
Police noticed about 1:30 a.m. Nov. 29 that a white Chevy Silverado traveling west on 21st Street failed to stop for the flashing red light at North Main Street, and stopped the vehicle.
The driver was unsure about the proper paperwork to give the officer and had difficulty finding his license or registration and failed some but not all field sobriety tests. After arrest, the driver provided .22 and .20 breath alcohol test results.
A resident of the 1000 block of North Hickory reported that his 2001 Suzuki DR200 motorcycle had been stolen from the bed of his pickup truck sometime between 5 p.m. Nov. 28 and 8 a.m. Nov. 29. The owner described the vehicle as a blue Suzuki with white fenders and the letters “DR” in yellow on the gas tank.
The owner said he had obtained the motorcycle so recently that he hadn’t yet placed the title in his name.
A 1:40 p.m. crash on Nov. 29 near the corner of Sheldon and 14th Street was caused by an attempt to avoid hitting a dog, according to the driver’s statement to police.
The 18-year-old female Clovis driver said she was eastbound on 14th Street when she saw a large black dog in the road, swerved, went over the curb, and hit a “no parking” sign doing moderate damage to her 1992 Nissan. Police cited the woman for careless driving.
