Judge Brack sworn into office

Former 9th Judicial District Court Judge Robert Brack was sworn in Thursday as the newest federal district judge for New Mexico.

Brack was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on July 14 after being recommended by U.S. Sen. Pete Domenici and nominated by President George W. Bush.

Brack is one of six federal district court judges assigned to New Mexico. He will be the first judge assigned full-time to Las Cruces, which, according to a press release from Domenici’s office, handles 65 percent of all federal criminal matters in New Mexico.

Brack served as a New Mexico District Court judge from 1997 to 2003 and before that was in private practice as a Clovis attorney.
