'Bad Boys II' a good action comedy

If you liked “Bad Boys,” then you will love “Bad Boys II. “

The characters are back in another Miami drug case in a fast-paced movie involving action scenes intermixed with hilarious dialogue.

Martin Lawrence and Will Smith work great as a team and play off each other with an air that makes the movie fun. Although this movie is categorized as action, it fits just as well in comedy.

“Bad Boys II” is a sequel that lives independently from the first. This movie has its own plot and action scenes. The only thing that is being carried over from the first movie is the two main characters. The ending is open so there could be a third and with these two characters.

I hope there will be.

Gabrielle Union plays Lawrence’s sister and holds her own.

Most times supporting actors are overlooked, but Union jumps in and becomes a regular like Tea Leoni did in the first movie.

The action scenes are wonderful. There is a pattern to the movie that could be considered boring and overdone but that doesn’t matter in a summertime fun flick like “Bad Boys.” The first movie had flaws and the action scenes didn’t win any awards, but that wasn’t what director Michael Bay was after.

The hilarious dialogue between Smith and Lawrence offsets any flaws in the action scenes and plot.
