Lorraine Corbin, 84

Mrs. Lorraine Corbin, 84, of Portales, died Tuesday, July 22, 2003, at Heartland Continuing Care Center in Portales.

She was born on Sept. 10, 1918, in Vernon, Texas, to Ivy and John T. Compton.

She grew up in Vernon until 1936 when her family moved to New Mexico. She graduated from high school in Rogers in 1937. She married Dale Corbin on Dec. 16, 1937, in Clovis. They made their home in the Causey community where they farmed for many years. She was a member of the Causey Homemakers Club and the Causey Church of Christ. She was employed at the Causey Store, in the post office and drove a school bus. She moved to Portales in 1985 and was a member of the Third and Kilgore Church of Christ. Family members said she enjoyed sewing and doing hand work projects, was an excellent cook and enjoyed making a comfortable home for her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Clyde and Roy Compton; and her husband.

She is survived by a son, Art Corbin (and wife, Janet) of Alamogordo; a daughter, Wilma Linton (and husband, Olen) of Portales; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Faye Corbin of Portales.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Wheeler Mortuary Chapel. David Bennett and Keith Corbin will officiate.

Burial will be at Portales Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Clint, Keith and Alvin Corbin, Jimmy Linton and Earl Dawdy.

Arrangements are by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales.

Tennie House, 85

Tennie Cleon Baldock House, 85, of Roswell, died Tuesday, July 22, 2003, at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center in Roswell.

She was born Nov. 11, 1917, in Denton County, Texas, to Walter C. and Ola Ritchie Baldock.

She was a teacher in Bloomfield and was a member of the Bloomfield Primitive Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Andrew House; two brothers; three sisters; and a great-granddaughter.

She is survived by three daughters, Loretta Bullock (and husband, Jim) of Roswell, Andrea Morrow (and husband, Sterling) of Roswell and Dixie Bickham (and husband, Loyd) of Farmington; two brothers, Walter C. Baldock Jr. (and wife, Dorothy) of Clovis and Gerald Baldock (and wife, Della) of Espanola; a sister, Juanita Bennett of Missouri; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Portales Cemetery. Larry Guffey and Ray Little will officiate.

Burial will be at Portales Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Brack and Michael Morrow, Vince Hawthorne, Brent and Andrew Bullock, Lance Bickham and Darin Halliburton.

Arrangements are by LaGrone Funeral Chapel and Crematory of Roswell.
