Scott Aubuchont has returned to the haunts of his childhood — the New Mexico Christian Children’s Home.

Tell us about your childhood:

“I grew up at the New Mexico Christian Children’s Home. I lived there for about 18 years.”

What’s so great about your favorite sport?

“My favorite sport is basketball. I like playing more than I like watching.”

Tell us about a time you cried:

“I cried when my niece died. She was a baby and she only lived for about 5 minutes. There were complications during the pregnancy.”

Tell us about your greatest individual accomplishment:

“In high school I received the Fellowship of Christian Athletes’ Athlete of the Year award.”

What do you envision your life being like in 10 years?

“I hope to be married, have at least two kids, and have enough money saved to live comfortably. I still plan on working,, though.”

What’s your favorite part about your job?

“My favorite part of my job is welding. I like to build things, It feels more productive than some of the other stuff we do.”

What is your most prized possession?

“One of my most prized possessions is a Nolan Ryan autographed baseball.”

How did you get the autographed baseball?

“I was in Abilene, Texas, attending a Bible Bowl, and some friends gave it to me.”

What was it like growing up at New Mexico Christian Children’s Home?

“It was a blessing. I made a lot of friends and knew people that I could call family. I learned how to work and provide for myself.”

How have things changed at NMCCH since you were a kid?

“There are no big changes only small ones. They have more cottages than when I was little.”
