Stabbing leaves one injured

A Saturday morning stabbing at the 600 block of Ross led to a Clovis man being transported by air ambulance to Covenant Hospital in Lubbock.

According to Detective Kirk Roberts of the Clovis Police Department, David Lopez was stabbed about 10 a.m. following an argument in front of several witnesses. No one else was injured in the incident.

“Some pushing happened, a suspect pulled a knife and cut him,” Roberts said. “He had a pretty large cut on his rib cage and abdomen.”

Covenant Hospital reported Saturday evening that Lopez remains hospitalized in satisfactory condition.

Roberts said police have made an arrest and booked a subject, but have not yet released the name of the person arrested.

“Right now we’re still getting all the details and I cannot confirm anything else right now,” Roberts said.
