Mrs. Aileen Disney, 89, of Portales, died Wednesday, April 23, 2003, at her home.

She was born Sept. 20, 1913, in Clifton, Tenn., to Lula Mae and W.B. “Doc” Smith.

She married Lorace Disney on June 16, 1933.

She spent her formative years in Clifton. As a teenager, she moved to Portales for the sake of her parents’ health. She was a 1932 graduate of Portales High School. During World War II she lived in almost every state in the union. Following the war she returned to Portales, living there until 1956. She was living in the Chicago area in 1969 when her husband died. Following his death, she returned to Portales. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Family members said her hobbies included sewing and quilting.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Sonny Smith; two sisters, Jo Ethel Smith and Kathleene Smith; a daughter, Loris Arlene Disney; and her husband, Lorace, who died April 6, 1969.

Survivors include a daughter, Susan E. Disney, of Fresno, Calif.

Services were held at Portales Cemetery.

The Rev. Harry Riser officiated.

Honorary bearers were Dwayne Disney, Norris Conklin, Garland Conklin, Basil Nash, Jim Jacobs and Cory Gamzow.

Wheeler Mortuary of Portales handled arrangements.
