  • Portales water update

    City water department crews are working to repair the water main break, but the repairs will take some time to be completed, according to an email from the city of Portales. The email said city officials expect water service to be restored by late afternoon or early evening. Most Portales businesses and offices are closed for the day. "Walmart and some other local vendors have a limited supply of drinking water in stock and more limited supplies on the way," the email said. Roosevelt General Hospital sent out a press release...

    Staff report Three people were injured Wednesday morning, with two transported to Lubbock, following an explosion at the Minsa corn processing plant in Muleshoe. No fatalities were reported by the Texas Department of Public Safety as of Wednesday afternoon. Bailey County Sheriff Richard Wills said about 8:18 a.m., a 911 call was received about an explosion at the facility.
