    David Grieder|Updated Sep 19, 2017

CLOVIS — Shawn Hamilton was appointed Monday evening to represent District Four on the Clovis Municipal Schools Board of Education, following public interviews and a nail-biting tie-breaker vote among four candidates during a special meeting of the board. Hamilton will serve the rest of the unexpired term of Justin Howalt, who recently vacated the position in advance of assuming the role of Clovis city manager next month. The term lasts through February 2019, at which time the...

  • Technology raises as many questions as it answers

    Sharna Johnson|Updated Sep 19, 2017

While technology provides a lot of answers to questions, ironically, it seems to create just as many if not more — and animals are by no means exempt. Ownership and rights issues are matters of interest these days — especially with the viral manner in which information, images, videos and music are shared — and debate about the legalities of ownership is to be expected. Apparently, even for monkeys. Little did he know he would set off a legal battle when, in 2011, he stared in...

  • H.S. Football: Clovis heads into bye week at 3-1

    Peter Stein|Updated Sep 19, 2017

Autumn and football are often synonymous with each other. But the Clovis football team will spend Friday, the first official day of autumn, off the field. It is the Wildcats’ bye week, time to rest, regroup and ready themselves to try for a state championship run in the weeks going forward. They are 3-1. They have scored 139 points, averaging nearly 35 a game. They’ve surrendered 72 points, 18 a game. They nearly won a Week 3 game at Rio Rancho — an undefeated 6A state champ last season — but dropped a heartbreaker in overtim...
