Penrod may be best known in eastern New Mexico for founding the Community Services Center in Portales in 1965, then serving as its executive director until her retirement in 1999.     CHS students selected for UNM program Three Clovis High School graduates have been admitted to the University of New Mexico’s combined Bachelor of Arts and Medical Degree program. Benjamin Blanco, Mya Grimes and Aaron Sellers Jr. are among three of 28 students accepted into the program.     PORTALES — An Albuquerque man was killed in a vehicle crash Tuesday just outside Portales. New Mexico State Police officers investigated a fatal crash involving a semi-tractor trailer and a van, according to a state police press release. The crash occurred about 3:30 p.m. on New Mexico 206 in Roosevelt County. The initial investigation indicated a van traveling north collided with the rear of a semi-tractor trailer also traveling north, the release said.     PORTALES — Finance Director Marilyn Rapp presented Portales city councilors with a balanced but uncertain interim budget at their Tuesday night meeting. Rapp said there is a slight reduction in revenue in the city’s general fund for the upcoming 2017-18 fiscal year, but if anything changes in the special legislative session — which began Wednesday — revenue numbers could be reduced further.
