    Staff report MIDLAND, Texas — Lubbock Christian was nothing if not efficient Friday night. The Chaparrals parlayed seven hits, one walk, a hit batsman and three Eastern New Mexico University errors into a 7-3 win over the Greyhounds in the opener of a three-game series at Security Bank Ballpark, home of Midland’s minor league team. LCU stranded just two baserunners in ending a five-game losing streak that was the program’s longest since 2012.     Staff report ALBUQUERQUE — Clovis High’s swimming teams may not have a lot of depth, but they showed they have some quality in Friday’s preliminaries of state swimming competition at Albuquerque Academy. CHS swimmers posted 11 school records — seven for the boys, four for the girls — and qualified seven boys events and six girls events for today’s championship finals (top eight in prelims).     Our newspaper upset a few people on Valentine’s Day with a story about area relationships that included a gay couple. As of Friday, seven readers had canceled their subscriptions and others had threatened to do the same because of the report. Most quoted Scripture, a few spewed vile epithets, all stated or suggested that gay relationships are sins against God and should not be acknowledged as “normal” in the newspaper.
