  • Board finalizes vote count

    Freedom New Mexico The Curry County Canvas Board finalized the votes of the Nov. 4 general election on Friday, according to Election Manager and County Clerk-elect Coni Jo Lyman. She said the final tally of votes totaled 14,506. The final tally included 20 absentee in lieu of and two provisional ballots the board approved. The additional votes did not change election results, she said. She said there were 12 provisional ballots, but 10 were disqualified because the voters were not registered.     Freedom New Mexico Police arrested a Portales man Friday on charges of kidnapping and aggravated battery. Clint J. Knight, 22, of Portales was arrested in connection with an incident that occurred Nov. 7 at Wal-Mart, according to Portales Capt. Lonnie Berry. “The district attorney had us charge it as a kidnapping,” Berry said. The 20-year-old victim, Trey Roberts of Melrose, was taken from Wal-Mart in a vehicle against his will and beaten, Berry said.
