2000s fashion is back

There's a coming of age when fashion starts to become deja vu.

This is when you realize you're old enough to have your middle school or high school fashion choices become cool again. The next generation gets to show you their version of your adolescent fashion hits or misses. Whether it's a decade later or more, you’re bound to notice and you won’t be able to stop talking about it.

Case in point, you may have noticed some looks from the early 2000's making their way into 2018. There are so many fun looks from this era to choose from.

Remember the colorful velour tracksuits? Celebrities like Britney Spears and Jennifer Lopez were photographed in them all the time. The tracksuit of the early 2000s was low-rise, flared and form fitting. Most girls wore theirs with a camisole underneath the jacket and their shoe choice was either tennis shoes or Ugg boots.

Today, the tracksuit is back by popular demand, but now it's popular to wear an oversized jacket and a tapered hem.

Some of the more questionable styles that you may or may not see sampled today are hippie-inspired flowy dresses worn over jeans or asymmetrical jersey skirts and tank or halter tops.

Retail sports T-shirts were cut up with holes and embellished with rhinestones.

There were the times you and your best friend would plan your outfits and sometimes make something your own way. My best friend and I would dye men's A-shirts to make colorful tunics or we would add a piece to the bottom to make mini dresses.

Bohemian tops and dresses were very popular and you'll see samples of this look today. Backless string halter tops made a comeback in 2017 and may continue this year.

Corset tops were popular in the early 2000s and have also been sampled lately — paired with sportswear. Also, corset belts worn over oversized T-shirts is another way this look has been worn as of late.
