Empty Stocking Fund - Nov. 26

Today’s family in need: This single grandmother is raising her two granddaughters, ages 5 and 7.

The family is surviving on a fixed income, and the money the grandmother receives “barely covers the rent,” according to Salvation Army Lt. Kelly Berggren.

“The girls attend (our) troops programs and are a joy to be around. Grandma would love to be able to provide a Christmas for the girls,” Berggren said.

About the Empty Stocking Fund: The fund is a joint venture of the Salvation Army and The Eastern New Mexico News. The fund helps low-income families with toys, food and clothing.

How to help: The Eastern New Mexico News is accepting Empty Stocking Fund donations at its newspaper offices in Clovis (521 Pile St. or P.O. Box 1689, Clovis 88101) and Portales (101 E. First St. or P.O. Box 848, Portales 88130).

Envelopes should be clearly marked “Empty Stocking Fund.” Checks must be payable to The Salvation Army. Contributions will be forwarded to The Salvation Army.
