ENMU cross country teams second at WT

CANYON, Texas — Eastern New Mexico’s University’s men and women’s cross country teams traveled over to Canyon, Texas for the West Texas A&M Stampede on Saturday, and both teams finished second to the host Buffs.

The Hounds’ Omer Almog and Coley Norcross completed the meet with first- and third-place finishes, respectively, at The Range in Canyon.

The Buffs finished with 20 points in each meet. The Greyhound men took 42 to finish second among four teams, while the women scored 35 to finish as the only other scoring team.

Almog took first place Saturday with a time of 26:33.50 after having recorded three top-ten finishes for the season. Almog had five competitors from WT follow behind in which had runner-up Ryan Thomson at a time of 26:46.71. Garrett Meyer (27:47.53) and Lorenzo Juarez (28:08.12) both finished in the top ten at seventh and ninth.

In the women’s meet, Norcross finished third with a time of 24:02.38. First place was taken by Erman Jepleting of WT with a recorded time of 23:04.99.

ENMU had five of their eight competitors finish within the top 10. Mason Swanson finished fifth with a time of 24:25.03, Abby Kepfer placed eighth with a time of 24:53.57, Cynthia Tovar placed ninth with a time of 25:51:56, and Nancy Rodriguez ran in 26:03.92 for 10th place.
