RICHARDSON, Texas — Six Eastern New Mexico University baseball players received on-field awards from the Lone Star Conference Wednesday, and another earned an all-academic slot.
Second baseman Alex De La Cruz picked up an All-LSC first-team nod, while teammates Keenan Dodd, Mike McNicholl and Dwight Velarde were named to the second team.
Shortstop Endy Villanueva earned the position’s Golden Glove award for a .980 fielding percentage with just three errors all season.
Third baseman Garlind Webster was an honorable mention, while first baseman Andrew Stubbs was named to the all-academic team.
The players helped the Greyhounds go 32-18, good for second-most wins in program history.
• De La Cruz led the LSC in batting, runs scored, hits, total bases and slugging percentage.
• Dodd went 7-3 with a 3.00 ERA and 73 strikeouts. He was also named to the all-academic team.
• McNicholl led the LSC with 58 RBIs, and had 21 extra-base hits on the season for a slugging percentage of .590.
• Velarde went 4-2 in 14 appearances and led all LSC relievers with 44 strikeouts.
• Webster hit .323 with three homers and 35 RBIs, and also posted a .959 fielding percentage.
