Meetings watch: Portales City Council

A workshop will be held before today’s Portales City Council meeting to explore the city’s water supply options.

The workshop will begin at 5 p.m. in the Memorial Building and will feature a presentation by Senior Engineer Jennifer Hill and Professional Geologist Amy Ewing, both of Daniel B. Stephens and Associates.

City Manager Sammy Standefer said the city is bringing in specialists, “just increasing our knowledge.”

“It’s just an informational meeting regarding water and potential water sources. It’s just looking at all aspects of different possibilities with water,” he said.

The following are items listed on the agenda for today’s meeting at 6:30 p.m. in the Memorial Building:

• A proclamation naming April 4 as “Fair Housing Day” in Portales.

• An authorization to remove uncollectable accounts from ambulance billing accounts receivable.

• A resolution to approve submission of the annual New Mexico Fire Fund distribution for fiscal year 2018.

• A request for approval for a summary subdivision of four lots at the Penny’s Place subdivision in Roosevelt County.

• A request for approval of the recreational facilities non-exclusive use agreement between the city and Roosevelt County Little League.
