Greyhounds make Division II tournament

A late slide in Lone Star Conference play didn't cost Eastern New Mexico University a Division II national tournament bid.

The Greyhounds made the field of 64 Sunday night as the sixth seed in the South Central regionals, and will play The University of Colorado-Colorado Springs in Friday's quarterfinal hosted by top seed Colorado State-Pueblo.

In all, the LSC represents half of the eight-team regional field. CSU-Pueblo will face LSC tournament champion Tarleton State, and the winner will face either No. 4 West Texas AM or No. 5 Regis. The winner between ENMU and UC-Colorado Springs will take on either second-seeded Angelo State or No. 7 St. Edwards.

The Greyhounds (20-8) have accomplished just their third 20-win season in club history and won the LSC's top seed with a 16-4 mark in conference play. However, they entered the selection process with three consecutive losses -- including an upset in the LSC tournament's first round by Texas A&M-Kingsville. It was the first upset in a 1-8 game since the tournament moved to the neutral-site format in 2008.
