Hounds set school indoor track marks

ALBUQUERQUE — Eastern New Mexico University’s indoor track teams earned four NCAA Division II provisional qualifying marks and broke five school records in Saturday’s season-opening MLK Invitational, hosted by the University of New Mexico.

The men's team won the event, while the women were second behind New Mexico Junior College.

Women’s records were set by Melina Grychka with a time of 4 minutes, 57.73 seconds in the mile, good for second place, and by Dominique Zamora, who broke her own school record from last year in the 60 meters, finishing fourth in a time of 7.81 seconds.

Grychka’s time currently ranks second in Division II this season.

For the men, Jacques Hall (60 meters) earned a provisional, falling just short of the school mark. Also, Kenneth Lloyd set a school mark in high jump at 6-8.

ENMU squads return to action on Friday, again at UNM in the Cherry and Silver Collegiate Invitational.
