Road Construction — Sept. 29

Area road construction and closure information for this week:

Clovis

North/South traffic on Martin Luther King Driver is closed from the main PRMC entrance to approximately 300 feet south of the intersection with 21st Street. Primary access to the hospital during all construction phases of the project will be on 21st Street. The public is asked to obey all construction signs and seek an alternate route when possible.

Questions regarding this matter, please contact City Engineer Justin Howalt at 575-769-2376 or via email at [email protected]

Curry County

The Curry County Road Department has scheduled chip sealing for these roads. Roads won’t be closed but drivers are asked to seek alternate routes:

  • Oct. 2-3 — Curry Road 13 from Curry Road F to Curry Road G, and Curry Road E from Curry Road 10 to Curry Road 11.
  • Oct. 9-10 — Curry Road D from Curry Road 11.5 to Curry Road 14.
Area residents are encouraged to schedule activities to minimize use of these roads 3-4 hours after the oil is applied. Driving on fresh oil not only damages the road, but makes a mess of your vehicle.

Portales

Construction work will be transitioning on eastbound Second Street. Currently traffic is in the inside or north lane from Avenue C to Boston Avenue. On Friday, traffic was moved to the outside or south lane.

With this move, traffic will be able to access Avenue A, Main Street, and Abilene off of Second Street. Access to the courthouse square and businesses on Avenue A and Main Street will be available off First Street. Expect some congestion in this area.
