Cannon airmen lend hand with move

CANNON AIR FORCE BASE — When the moving men arrived at Wheatfields Senior Living Community in Clovis they sported a different uniform than the normal crew. In camouflage green, Airmen from Cannon Air Force Base eager to lend a helping hand, carried furniture and a resident's belongings down the hallways to set up in a new room.

Airmen from Cannon Air Force Base move a resident's belongings to a new room in Wheatfields Senior Living Community in Clovis. Members of the base offered to lend a helping hand at Wheatfields if ever it was needed.

Members of the base first learned of this assisted living community during a Veterans Day event. While there, they discovered some elderly residents needed assistance while moving into Wheatfields and offered to help.

"We learned the base was eager and willing to help out in the community of Clovis and partner with us, which we were really thrilled about," said Carla Anderson, Wheatfileds director of sales and marketing.

When Anderson had a resident in need of assistance to facilitate a move, she took the base up on their offer. Ten Air Commandos showed up for the job and transported all the resident's possessions to a new room in the space of an hour.

"I'm just so impressed!" said Anderson after it was over. "They were all very nice and helpful. I love the spirit of teamwork and their willingness to come over here to fulfill a need that would have been more difficult without their assistance."
