Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:

A 53-year-old Clovis man came to the police department Monday morning to report a possible case of credit card fraud.

The man said he wrote a $49 check to a Florida company in July that said it would open a credit card account for him; the check has been cashed but the man said he had not received a credit card.

Clovis police checked out a drug tip at the 1100 block of North Davis Street about 7:30 p.m. Monday. Residents denied drug use, but a check of identification turned up outstanding warrants on a 40-year-old woman wanted on warrants out of Portales for failure to pay fines and issuing worthless checks.

Police arrested the woman and took her to the Curry County Adult Detention Center where she was served with copies of the warrants.

Police responded about 9 a.m. Tuesday morning to the 1000 block of Colonial Park where a vacant house awaiting sale had multiple rocks thrown through the windows.

Rocks found inside the house were similar to landscaping on a neighboring house, according to police.

A Clovis business owner called police Tuesday afternoon to report a man had come into his store and taken $2,000 worth of gold-colored rings.

The owner said he saw a man and woman run out of his store and flee in a vehicle after reaching inside the jewelry case and taking the rings.

A 21-year-old Clovis woman received moderate damage to her car after hitting an intoxicated pedestrian about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

According to police reports, the woman was eastbound on Manana Street and slowing down as she approached Prince Street where the traffic signal was red. She said she never saw the pedestrian, a 45-year-old Clovis man, until she hit him as he was walking into the traffic lane from a business driveway. The pedestrian was transported to Plains Regional Medical Center where he was treated for head abrasions and released.

The pedestrian told police he did not remember being hit by the car. No citations were issued in the incident.

After a 21-year-old Clovis man failed to return his girlfriend’s car, the 21-year-old girlfriend called police about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday to report the vehicle missing.

When the boyfriend still had not returned the car by Wednesday morning, police took down additional details, put out a “be-on-the-lookout” order, and advised the girlfriend on how to obtain a restraining order against her boyfriend.
