Landry Sena, The Staff of The News|Updated Sep 19, 2023

This marks week 31, and I’m happy to report Baby Sena and I passed our glucose test with flying colors. Now that we’re in the home stretch, the nesting and stress is getting more and more intense. Working around the house and trying to get things done is becoming a bit challenging considering my lungs are getting more and more squished in there. I often find myself having a hard time catching my breath. And even though she’s only a little over 3 pounds, I would guess she weighs at least 5 because of how my center of gravi...

  • Faith: Living in hope to be cooler by time you read this

    Curtis Shelburne, Religion columnist|Updated Sep 19, 2023

    G. K. Chesterton writes: “An inconvenience is an adventure wrongly considered.” I suppose, then, that I must be in the midst of an adventure. I’m writing on a Sunday evening. On Friday afternoon, my wife discovered that the air conditioner was not conditioning. Please note that I am not in the least blaming the messenger for imparting negative news. It is just a fact that she usually notices inconveniences of this sort before I do. If one of our vehicles is making a bit of a...

  • Commentary: Tech's slow start mirrors Big 12

Jon Mark Beilue, Sports columnist|Updated Sep 19, 2023

The three-game non-conference dance card is complete for Texas Tech. The results are this: The Red Raiders are likely not as good as offseason storylines indicated. Neither is the Big 12. If a 1-2 start has been underwhelming for Tech, the same could be said of the new-look conference the Raiders are in. Only five of 14 Big 12 teams went through non-conference unbeaten – outgoing members Texas and Oklahoma as well as Kansas and newcomers Central Florida and Brigham Young. A...

    Elwood Watson, Syndicated content|Updated Sep 19, 2023

The most neglected person in America is a black woman…” More than 60 years later, these words still ring true. Recently, it’s an apt description as it relates to footage of a horrific incident that occurred recently in Houston. Ro Bashe, a Somali immigrant, took to social media to show viewers her badly injured...

  • Opinion: Left's information blackout not new

    Michael Reagan, Syndicated content|Updated Sep 19, 2023

Thank God for Sen. John Kennedy of Louisiana. I wish every major television and radio network in the country had covered what the smart and colorful Republican did in the Senate last week. As part of a hearing looking into the alleged threat to freedom posed by parents who want to have sexually explicit gay and trans books removed from their school libraries, Kennedy bravely quoted some choice excerpts from two of the books. While he read out loud from “All Boys Aren’t Blu...

The answer is no, CMS was not, and is not, placing litter boxes in restrooms. I know this because I asked students and teachers and volunteers in multiple schools. None of them had ever seen a litter box in a school restroom for any reason. None of them knows anyone who...
