    PORTALES — Eastern New Mexico University’s softball team broke a 10-game losing streak in a big way in the opener of a Lone Star Conference doubleheader against Texas-Permian Basin on Friday. It took the Greyhounds a while to get going in the second game, but a seven-run fourth was just what the doctor ordered and the Greyhounds went on to complete an 8-0, 10-5 sweep of the Lady Falcons at Greyhound Softball Field.     RUIDOSO — Portales High’s boys earned their second leg toward state Class 1-4A golf competition on Friday, finishing second in the Alien 8 tournament. The Rams just made the cut with a team score of 337. Artesia swept both divisions of the meet, shooting 317 in boys competition and 343 on the girls’ side.     RUIDOSO — The Portales Lady Rams bounced back from a morning loss, rallying from an early deficit to beat Los Alamos 13-6 on Friday in the Kristen Griego Memorial softball tournament.     PORTALES — The trial of a former Portales man accused of child molestation was vacated Friday as District Judge Donna Mowrer ordered a competency evaluation. Rocky Banda, 36, of Amarillo, was arrested in February 2016 and charged with 24 counts of criminal sexual penetration of a child, as well as criminal sexual contact with a child and bribery of a witness.
